  1. Tracked deletions in git should be synced with the server upon deployment

Currently when using the git deployment feature, if you delete a previously tracked file and push this change to the server it doesn't delete the file from the server.

This means you're left with lots of legacy files that are no longer needed, and your repo is no longer in sync with your server files.

This can cause issues if you ever wanted to push changes back from the server to git as it would then track the previously deleted files and re-add them to the sever!

I'd assume this to be expected behaviour but there might be a reason…

Thanks, Harry, for taking the time to report this.

I’d like to better understand your use-case in order to figure out what’s going on.

For example, if I have a git repository deployed on my server on Cloudways, and if I go ahead and delete an already tracked file from the repository on my local computer and push the changes upstream to the remote repository and then pull those changes on my Cloudways server, I do see that the deleted file is gone from my public_html/ (or any other deployment) directory. Are you having trouble with that?

Or is your workflow different from what I’ve described? Please let me know so I may check it thoroughly.

      Thanks.

New as of 11/30/2016, Lightsail provides much more competitive rates than normal AWS. Comparable to the DigitalOcean or Vultr plans currently offered by Cloudways.

      • Run gulp on CW servers

So i talked to 2 support employees today, both with the same outcome: "Today it is not possible to run gulp on cloudways."

        1. You can't install gulp globally, since cloudways won't allow global npm install.
        2. You can't run gulp locally, because this will give you some permission denied.

The weirdest thing of all... Gulp is necessary to use Elixir on Laravel 5.x. The have pre-installed laravel applications, but you can't use the elixir function. Wtf?!

          Hello Yordi:

I am sorry you had to go through that much trouble.

Could you please help me understand how you were trying to use Gulp here that didn’t work?

It is true that at this point in time we don’t support global installation of Gulp. But you should be able to use Gulp easily.

If you have the Gulp dependency defined in the package.json file, then you may run `npm install` to install it. Once installed, if you have a gulpfile.js with Elixir assets defined, you can run gulp by referencing it via `./node_modules/gulp/bin/gulp.js`. It is a somewhat inconvenient, yes, but it should do the job right.

Could you please tell me if you faced issues this way?

        • A better backup scheme

So here my suggestion for a better backup scheme. Do something like keeping:
          = 1 - 3 monthly backups
          + 3 weekly backups
          + 4 - 6 daily backups
This way a longer period is covered without increasing the space required for backups. You can try keeping it at 8, although 12 would be ideal as it will cover last 3 mo, last 3 wk, and last 6 days.

          Other suggestions:
          - Allow to choose the time of day to do backup so it won't slow down the server during busy hours.
          - Allow to choose external backup destination like…

So it is not performing well with Varnish due to caching.

While we don’t yet offer Mautic as a separate application on our Platform, Mautic is at present fully compatible with our Platform.

Mautic can be easily installed manually on any PHP Stack application on Cloudways. All that is needed to be done is to download and unzip the Mautic application inside the public_html directory of a stock PHP application, and to run its installer from the web (accessing the application URL the first time will automatically start the installer). There is a possibility that the installer may complain about not having the PHP variable “always_populate_raw_post_data” defined to “-1” value. If that happens, then that can be easily handled by defining “php_admin_value[always_populate_raw_post_data] = -1” under Application Settings > PHP Settings and restarting PHP FPM from Manage Services. Afterwards, the installer will proceed and complete successfully.

Furthermore, any required crons for Mautic can be set up through Cron Job Management interface on…

              • Use Let's Encrypt certificate for Cloudways database manager (8082 port) instead of a self signed cert

Since we all can use Let's Encrypt for free (basic needs), why don't you automatically setup LE cert for database manager rather than using self signed cert which gives browser warnings.

                • Support for creating CSR for multiple domains (SAN)

Your platform supports SAN and Wildcard SSL certs but the CSR creator under Application Management does not support multiple domains and it gives error "Enter Domain name in correct format" when I typed in my domains under it. Seems like it supports one domain only so it should be updated.

                    • Trial Account expires after deleting a server

I was setting up a trial account to evaluate Cloudways. I created a server on DigitalOcean, but noticed only after creation that the default location was set to London.

Being in the US, I wanted to recreate it in the SF or NY zone. So I clicked to delete the server.

Immediately after deleting, I was presented with a message stating that my 14-day trial account was now expired... just minutes in.

I'm fine with a one server limit, but I would expect that to be limited to one simultaneous instance.

In lieu of that, it would have been nice…

Can any of the supporters please give some scope on what you would like to see implemented when it comes to supporting support?

                          • Do you want to be able to launch containers, let Cloudways deploy your preferred app on top of a container (i.e. wordpress) and manage it like you do with other apps in normal virtual machines on Digital Ocean or Vultr?
                          • Or you want to be able to deploy your own docker images with your application on top of infrastructure (be it a VMs, a physical host …) that we make available to you?
                          • Or something else?

It will help set our mind related to this. We are discussing options internally, one being adding a container (over physical hardware) infrastructure provider over which you could deploy/manage your applications like done now.

                        • Regarding Rackspace Email

Just a suggestion for your marketing strategy and pricing team.
Rackspace provides a solid service including fast phone support and other benefits. While Cloudways (as a reseller) is not providing the same level of service as does Rackspace for their normal level of service and features yet charges and equal sum $2/email address.
This in actuality - as far as I can see at the moment - is a negative benefit for a Cloudways client.
Maybe the benefit of Cloudways Rackspace would be that it is a cost savings - Maybe providing something different - not less than - for…
