1. Let us specify the root for a new SFTP account

   This is such a basic feature that exists on any cPanel hosting plan. Simply allow us to set the root folder for a new SFTP accounts for an application.

   I have software that automatically uploads to the SFTP but the upload fails because your default root (applcations/(appname) is not writable. Simply add a field to let us specify where the root for he new SFTP we just created will be (i.e. applications/(appname)/public_html/newfolder

   I cannot stress enough how useful this will be for us developers and will make the CloudWays experience more robust and scalable.

4. Update ImageMagick to support AVIF

   The current version of ImageMagick is from the legacy (v6) branch. Updating to the latest version of the v7 branch would allow for AVIF image format support. AVIF has been out for a couple years now and can provide substantially better compression than WebP.

5. Mirror Servers For Faster Worldwide Access

   My customers are in the USA and my employees in Asia. The US based server is super fast when accessed from the USA, but from Asia it's slow. I want to run a duplicate mirror server in Asia, but have been unable to find someone with the skills to do this. Would be a great feature if Cloudways could do this with a few clicks.

6. Display Backup storage requirements

   Cloudways server backups require at least 50% storage space of the server to perform a full backup. This mean's although they are moved off the server once complete if you are currently using 51GB of 100GB storage the full server backups will fail to run. For those that backups are important to, at least 50% must always be available.

   It would be good to have a feature somewhere in the server management that won't allow you to fill the server more than 50%.

   Other suggestion:
   - Warnings to say "Your website is 51% full, backups won't run! Free up storage on your server or increase your storage for backups to run on the next cycle."

   Cloudways server backups require at least 50% storage space of the server to perform a full backup. For those that backups are important to, at least 50% must always be available.

   It would be good to have a feature somewhere in the server management that won't allow you to fill the server more than 50%.

7. Offer a "Wipe All And Sync" Option for Live to Staging Transfer

   Offer the ability to wipe all files and database entries, before pulling a fresh copy from live to staging.

   Sometimes I need to redo our Sandbox environment.
   Most of the time, there are various changes to the files and database.

   When I choose overwrite it won't wipe the remaining data.

   If I delete the whole app and stage again, I have to redo SSL and other settings.

   Please give a third option to the "Live > Staging" process.
   - Overwrite
   - Incremental
   - Wipe and Write

8. Update to composer v2 and add cache folder

   Please update Composer to version 2.

   Support for Composer 1 is deprecated and some packages will not be available. You should upgrade to Composer 2. See https://blog.packagist.com/deprecating-composer-1-support/

   Also, allow a user to write to composers cache folder:

   "Cannot create cache directory /home/12341234.cloudwaysapps.com/hfjhsdkfhdsjkf/.cache/composer/repo/https---repo.packagist.org/, or directory is not writable. Proceeding without cache"

9. PHP-FPM Log buffer length limit issue needs resolving

   There is an issue on servers configured by Cloudways, in which the PHP-FPM log buffer (error msg length) is set to 1028 bytes. This is too short for many errors messages generated by Wordpress.

   It results in many entries of:
   "Message":"AH01071: Got error 'the log buffer is full (1024). The access log request has been truncated.'"

   In the PHP error logs views in Application Manager. So rather than seeing the actual error, you end up just seeing this message. Which is, obviously, very unhelpful.

   Apparently it's due to the setting of log_limit setting in PHP-FPM, complied with Nginx.

   Anyway... I found a workaround solution is to add the following to the PHP Advanced Settings on the Application:

   phpadminvalue[logerrorsmax_len] = 2048

   Once that is added, property (and useful) error messages are now accessible in the error logs.

   I suggest Cloudways either compile PHP-FPM with a higher log_limit, or implement the PHP change I've mentioned, by default on all applications. This would save the customer from having to deal with this issue.

10. Gatsby (true Headless) Support

    Gatsby seems to be sinking its teeth in. It may be here to stay. True headless sites are so ridiculously fast, you can't ignore them. From my research, it seems cloudways does not currently support gatsby serving. I've looked at your other headless options and they're good, but not the same as Gatsby. I recommend you look into it and begin offering options. Thank you for hearing me!

14. Allow Remote-SSH (addon) connection from VS Code

    When using Remote-SSH addon for VS Code:

    I think it tries to install something on host (and fails).
    Allowing to do so will support working on remote files directly from VS Code which will be super-cool and convenient

15. Allow me to create my own server config defaults

    I have wished for a way to create my own defaults for settings that automatically get propagated to new servers. This would include config options available in:

    • Server Management > Settings and Packages (especially Basic, Advanced, and Packages)
    • Application Management > Applications Settings (especially General and PHP FPM config)

    It would save time to not have to go manually change all the config on each server but have it automatically create the server with my preferred settings.

17. Allow to define bash aliases for app user

    The master user can define bash aliases in .bash_aliases file, but an app user can't do the same, there is no way to define aliases and load them automatically on ssh login
    Would be great to be able to define such bash aliases file for app user!

    If you dont support CDN for the staging site how can I test the code & optimize speed before making it live?
