  1. DesktopServer version 3.5.2 has a new direct deployment feature to get your WordPress websites from your desktop to your hosting provider in

DesktopServer version 3.5.2 has a new direct deployment feature to get your WordPress websites from your desktop to your hosting provider in just a few clicks.

To do this Cloudways must support File System Direct.

File System Direct is a (PHP) feature that allows WordPress to write files to the local file system on the server. At the moment it does not so we can't use this feature in DesktopServer.

  2. Allow people to increase the number of inode available to them by using the disk space they should already have.

for the sake of example, currently I have access to a 160GB disk space server and i am only using 22 GB of it. i can't add more files because i seem to be out of inode space. Inodes are made from disk space being used as a table to map out other files. Why can't this table be increased using the space i already have access to so i can take advantage of all my disk space.

  3. Add "stdout" output to Supervisor job logs

Laravel jobs tend to offload queues using "Supervisor" jobs. Laravel's docs show how to pipe "stdout" output to a file for reading. Cloudways Supervisor logs will only write errors, so there's no way to access the Laravel queue processing logs.

Normally, this is set in the Supervisor job ".conf" file with setting "stdout_logfile=".

This should be an option so Laravel users can access the Laravel queue logs, or the current Cloudways Supervisor logs should have "stdout" in addition to errors.

  6. timezone to use in logfiles

Would be handy to specify the timezone you would get in log files. For example apache logs are always in UTC and can be configured at the apache level.

  7. Preserving IP address when cloning server - making scaling down hassle-free

    Scaling up is easy.

Scaling down (with Vultr, DigitalOcean or Linode) requires to clone a server.

When cloning, server gets new IP address - this causes a lot of hassle with application integration or DNS configuration.

    SUGGESTION:
It would be great to make scaling down hassle-free, so that after cloning server could have the same IP as previous server.

  8. A "Buckets" storage option

    Davidtgill
    Sep 6, 2:29 AM PKT

Hi, on the Google Cloud Platform they have VM instances which you can get on Cloudways.
On Google Cloud Platform they also have Storage "Buckets" which are a far cheaper way to store lots of data. You can also store multiple Terabytes.
My suggestion is that Cloudways offers a "Buckets" storage option.

  9. create a managed upgrade/downgrade solution for MySQL updates via server backup.

ie backup entire server before upgrading MySQL, so that restore of entire server is possible (inc older MySQL version) if something goes wrong with the upgrade. I understand this would be chargeable but it would save the stress levels for many a web dev

  10. Show maintanance page while the server upgrade is in process

The server upgrade takes somewhere between 10-15 minutes and during the upgrade, visitors can't access the website. They see a 503 error.

I think Cloudways should show a maintenance page while the server upgrade is in the process.

  11. Switch to AWS t3a.small servers in place of the old t2.small servers for your $36.50/month Managed AWS packages

The t3a family of servers upgrade the old t2 family of servers. The t3a family is cheaper to run yet more powerful, so you'll save money and your clients will get an even better product.

  12. Make phpmyadmin as default database manager

    Hi,

Why don't make phpmyadmin as the default database manager. Everybody uses it. All tutorials on the web are about this manager.
    Not this cloudways default manager.

Now i always need to do a complicated time taking installation.
    This is not user friendly?

  15. Multiple IP addresses assigned to a server

I would love to have the option to assign multiple IP addresses to a server, so we can have different apps each on its own IP, on the same server. Right now, we have to boot up a new server (multiplying the costs) each time we need a new IP for an app.

  16. SSL Session Cache

Add the ability to turn on sslsessioncache.

Gives a speed boost for but also cuts down overheads for not having to request new keys every time a page request is made.

This is a pretty standard option, it shouldn't cause any conflicts as can be set individually on drops.

This is one line for a quick gain...current SSL testing is failing on this point.

  17. Multiple webroots per single application

More advanced PHP applications can have multiple webroots accessed via different subdomains. For example, one is the public website for customers (www.mydomain.com) and another for the staff (accounts.mydomain.com).

For example, Cloudways is advertising support for Yii Framework (https://www.cloudways.com/en/yii-hosting.php). This framework implements the mentioned architecture in the following way:

    https://www.yiiframework.com/extension/yiisoft/yii2-app-advanced/doc/guide/2.0/en/structure-directories

There are "frontend" and "backend" modules in the application directory and each of them has a separate webroot. The configuration could look like this:

    www.mydomain.com -> /path/to/yii-application/frontend/web/
    accounts.mydomain.com -> /path/to/yii-application/backend/web/

This could be even configured on a basic cPanel hosting. I have already asked on the support…

  18. Suggestion: Add 'mailhog' service to servers

    https://github.com/mailhog/MailHog
MailHog is very handy if it comes to development. It catches every sent mails and shows them on a web interface.

It would be nice if one could enable/disable MailHog like other services for development purposes.

  19. Add Database Server like RDS for multi server applications.

Multi-server applications are very common these days.
Example: Application files on one server and Database on another server like RDS.
We need such option to put our large applications onto it.

  20. 720 Permissions on app creation Issues

There was an infrastructure update that defaults files/directories to 720 permissions. Now FTP users no longer see any of the files or directories because of these permissions. Chat support's "solution" is to use the "reset permissions" function, which will then change the permissions of files and directories to 770.

First, why were the default permissions changed from 664/755, to 720? I've never seen this configuration before, so it seems odd to me.

Second, why is this a two step process for FTP users to gain access to the public_html directory? The default application permissions should MATCH the "reset permissions" permissions.
