Update cURL to a more recent version
The version of cURL on my server is 7.38.0 which is 3 years old. Perhaps it's time to update?
I can't point to a specific problem with that version or any features in newer versions that are needed, but it would preclude WP plugin authors from pointing to an outdated version of cURL when troubleshooting problems.

Double Arch is one of the most dramatic formations in Arches National Park. The short trail leads to two massive arches joined at one end. You can even climb beneath them for a unique view.

Current cURL version is 7.38.0, which has 43 known security vulnerabilities according to this https://curl.haxx.se/docs/vuln-7.38.0.html.
It's was released September 10 2014.
Perhaps it's time to update?
