PHP 7.2.0 – Released: 30 Nov 2017
PHP 7.2.2 – Released: 1 Feb 2018https://secure.php.net/releases/
changes from 7.1 to 7.2 – a long list of bug fixes, security fixes, many additions, faster than 7.1
most important though better compatibility with the 5.x branch; example:
"Unfortunately the WP Performance Profiler is not compatible with HHVM or PHP 7.0 and 7.1 (due to regressions in these large updates of PHP) but is compatible with PHP 7.2. The minimum PHP version required to run the plugin is 5.3 and we have tested the plugin up to 5.6."
see: https://interconnectit.com/products/wordpress-performance-profiler/@Cloudways:
Why has PHP7.2.2 not been added to the available PHP versions?
Why does it take so long getting important updates on the Cloudways platform? -

Hey there! I've seen some incompatibilities of PHP 7.2 with (at least) a few WordPress Plugins. Just to let you know, in case we update it can break things.

Absolutely... I don't see how any host can claim to support WordPress but not offer the WP recommended PHP version. I was already starting to look at other hosting options when the default WP install for new servers was 4.8.3 for many months, even when WP was actually up to 4.9+. Cloudways' slow implementation of new versions, including PHP is just another reason I'm keeping my eyes open. I thought using CW would give me maximum flexibility to switch between software and server versions... still true up to the latest version they offer, but I need faster access to latest versions. Still using Cloudways, but these types of issues keep me from highly recommending it to everyone like I wish I could.

Yes, please update php to 7.2.2 and maybe keep future upgrades available as they come out at users own risk.

Please consider this. It's becoming the standard for quality WP hosts. Performance improvements are noticeable.
