To add Nexcess_Turpentine as the Magento <-> Varnish integration
The current extension by Phoenix is outdated and does not support either the latest version of Mage CE that comes with your installer nor hole punching via ESI.
Please!!

We will stick to Phoenix Page Cache by now that is working quite well and we have recently integrated with 1.9.

The actual Phoenix Page cache module is broken, its missing a model which stops you from saving config items in the backend and throws a fatal error.

Actually, Phoenix Page Cache still does not support ESI hole punching in CE version. You have to use the €1000 enterprise edition to do that. And without ESI hole punching Varnish is useless once users add an item in their cart or login. I have actually tried it on your services and page load time jumps from 300-400ms to 2-4sec - a sure way to lose visitors.
Turpentine does all that for free and is fully open source. -
