Allow for custom retention period for backups (currently max 15 days)
I would like to set retention to 1 year if I want to.

Sounds great!
In the future it would be nice with an advanced option to specify further, ie.
"Save hourly backups for: X days"
"Save daily backups for: X weeks"
"Save weekly backups for: X months" -

We have now added retention. By now max retention is four weeks. We will monitor system for a while like this and then see option to extend it further.

I would like hourly backup for a day, daily backups for a week and weekly backups for say 3 months.
At least some improvement would be great, currently if I set backups to hourly I will only have 8 hours of backup - that's not good!

I think allowing us the FTP or Download ourback up and managing them for life if at all required would be great and there is such ticket already there. I feel lets vote for that.

Maybe if you implement the backup download 30 days would be the sweet spot.
