actually you can - https://support.cloudways.com/how-to-manage-your-databases-using-mysql-workbench/
watchout you have to use the latest sequel pro version as there is a bug for ssh tunneling in the earlier releases. https://github.com/sequelpro/sequelpro/issues/2141

Yes 100% need to be able to white list IP's - sometimes a remote server needs to connect to the database for many reasons.
Also I can't use Sequel Pro which is really annoying for quick debugging!

YES! I build apps locally that require me to use a remote database, where I'll eventually host the app (Cloudways). This is IMPORTANT and if not implemented will require me to move to another provider.

Yes, I agree. This would allow my to build online apps that I can integrate with onprimise systems or another cloud app.
I realize the security issues so I would be happy if this was restricted to a single or small group of IP addresses with permission to connect.
Thanks!
