    The structural split between PrestaShop 1.6 and 1.7 is a classic open-source dilemma. When 1.7 introduced the Symfony framework and completely rewrote the core theme architecture, it fundamentally broke backward compatibility. Standard 1.6 modules and themes can't run on 1.7 without a major overhaul, leaving merchants who rely on legacy extensions stuck.
