Choose PHP Version for every Application (not for Server)
It should be possible to choose different php versions on a single server. This is possible in most shared hosting environments and is a big advantage.
It is expensive to create a new server only because you need for example an old php version for a specific application which is not compatible.

Cloudways advises us to test our PHP before upgrading, tells us how to set up a staging site but fails to tell us that I must set it up on the staging site ON A DIFFERENT SERVER. I am no expert, but this seems anything but convenient or affordable.

Ran into this limitation again today. Please, Cloudways, do something about this!
Servers running PHP-FPM can run multiple versions of PHP, so why not the servers on Cloudways? I envision I (the user) would select one or more PHP versions at the server level (selecting one as a default), and then I'd select the relevant PHP version for each app.
Basic hosting like Bluehost has this. It's super unfortunate for pricier and more managed hosting like Cloudways to not offer this, or even offer a hint of considering it. It's just really important.

We need that feature CloudWays, we love you, but we need that ASAP please.

I'm honestly surprised that this isn't been implemented yet if this post was submitted in 2016.
Typically on a server (not on cloudways apparently), you can have multiple versions of php-fpm running on a server and you can point a server to specific version of php via ngninx config. Doesn't seem like a difficult feature to implement so not sure what's with the holdup on this.

I'm in the process of moving our clients over to Cloudways... and I've just discovered this issue on a site that needs to run PHP 7.4, I'm sure this won't be the only one that needs a specific PHP version. I didn't even consider this would be an issue as I've always been able to select PHP version per app on every type of host I've ever used. Now I'm left to decide if this still makes sense...

Please add. Im a customer of over 10 years. And I too have a few sites that I need to set to different PHP version.

More than 8 years ago requested this feature. Still no possibility :(
I think we have to decide to choose an alternative platform because Cloudways is doing minor updates/improvements instead of these kinds of major requirements. 380 votes for this now.

Enabling application-level PHP version upgrade or downgrade could significantly enhance flexibility for developers and administrators. Currently, PHP version management is restricted to server-level changes, which means any adjustments apply universally across all hosted applications. By allowing individual applications to select their own PHP versions, organizations can ensure compatibility with specific applications while testing newer versions on others. This capability would support better version control and mitigate potential disruptions caused by broad server-level upgrades or downgrades. This feature is particularly useful in environments where different applications have varying requirements for PHP versions due to dependencies or ongoing development.

This makes it pretty impossible to update dynamic / ecommerce websites without a lot of extra hassle.

This is a feature that many other platforms like WHM/cPanel already provide. Please prioritize adding the ability to change the PHP version for each domain and apps independently. This functionality is crucial for our needs and would greatly enhance Cloudways' usability. Thank you!

Cloudways' clients request this feature since 2016 (almost for a decade now), you have done a tone of updates since then but haven't setup a php version manager! I know it may be not the simplest thing to do or manage, but it's a must nowdays and it is such a pain to not have this feature.
I'm a Cloudways client since 2018 and I have now to move out my applications because I don't have the ability to change the php version only for one of my applications so I can update it to recent versions.
Except of this, there is another important lack of feature, I you change the PHP version to latest one, you can't roll back once you get in trouble..
Please, manage these issues and give a solution, it's almost a shame for such a big good and trustful company.

If you want a lower barrier to entry, don’t even build it into the backend interface. Allow us to set the PHP version in htaccess.
I’d love to understand why this is not an option already, or from the start.

Just a while ago, I trialed one of Cloudways Server. To be honest, the fastest server I've used. I explored all features and hands down it was cloudways BUT then I realised that I have a lot of applications still on PHP7.4 that requires time and effort to update.
So I searched, only to realise that PHP is per server and not per application. That drew the line for me and therefore, marking this as Critical. It's 2024 and all host offers this. I thank you Cloudways to listen to the customer base so that this is implemented soon!

I agree with most users in the comments that this is a Must have in 2024 when every other Hosting provider has this option as a default. Cloudways has been great platform so far and i really hope that they take this feedback positively to make it a much more robust and flexible platform.

This is extremely important. As a matter of fact, missing this feature on Cloudways makes me look to move everything we have on Cloudways to another (non Cloudways) platform.
I have 30+ applications and we MUST be able to upgrade/choose the PHP version per application.
Upgrading everything at once causes potential issues, because we cannot check and fix all applications at once.
So upgrading/selecting a PHP version per application is an absolute must. This is not just a suggestion. It is a MUST. If it's not here before April 2024, we will start the moving process to another platform. Sorry, but that's what happens when you're on a platform that lacks this.
Support had the solution! Just add another server. Yeah right. That's the same as my car has an issue and the garage tells me, "Oh, just buy a new car".
What's shocking is that this "idea" was posted on May 20, 2016. So almost EIGHT years ago and Cloudways did not do anything with it. So it looks like they don't give a sh**.
As I said, time to move on to a more modern platform and leave this old-fashioned, Cloudways platform behind.

all modern servers allow this feature! -

Please provide option to change PHP Version Applicaton wise.
I know there is opiton to change PHP version server.
As in 1 server there are too many applications. I want some Aplication to run on PHP 7.4 and some Application to run in PHP 8.2.
If i change PHP version on server than it may create problem for some application. Please can you provide this option. -

This is a very important feature.
Why hasn't Cloudway implemented this over the years?
I have applications running on different PHP versions.

Maybe adding this feature is very difficult for Cloudways, or maybe if they add this feature it means customers will need fewer servers (i.e. less money for Cloudways in the short term) but long-term this is a must-have feature. I run into this limitation ALL the time.
