  1. Provide UI controls for ModSecurity e.g. SecRequestBodyNoFilesLimit and SecRequestBodyLimit

Twice this week I have needed to adjust the SecRequestBodyNoFilesLimit and SecRequestBodyLimit ModSecurity settings on my client's servers. It would be great if there were a UI way for me to adjust this without bugging support. It would be great for Cloudways too.

  2. Ability to turn Backup Frequency to Disabled, or add more days than 7 Days

Currently you cannot disable Backups, and the highest number of days you can set is 7 Days.

Cloudways needs to ability to disable Backups, and either add more days than 7 Days or include Weekly, Bi-Weekly, Monthly.

Backups raise the Bandwidth usage and users do not have the ability to control this to anything less frequent than 4 times a month (7 Days). So on AWS/Google if you have 50 GB of Applications and 50 GB of DB Disk Space, you would be paying $50 a month on top of the Vertical Scaling Setting Price.

  3. A Changelog for Settings & Packages Changes

Would love to be able to see a changelog of all of the changes made to the settings & packages section of the dashboard just under the settings.

For example: A list of each change submitted for the Memory Limit and what user made the change and when.

I know there is a way to see these kinds of adjustments in the server logs, or via support ticket, but a nice list on the dashboard would be super convenient, maybe also with a filter.

  5. OPcache interned_strings_buffer

Currently opcache total memory size can be tuned via the UI, but not the interned strings buffer, which is another performance knob that normally people suggest to raise alongside total cache size.

It would be nice to also allow tweaking of opcache.internedstringsbuffer via the UI (perhaps in power-of-two increments - 8M (default), 16MB, 32MB, ...) which can become performance-critical when hosting many or bigger sites. Currently the 8M option is limiting when the cache size is >=128M and hit rate is still at 50%.

  6. Cloudways vs Elastic service what’s the real difference?

    Hello everyone,

I’m new to Elasticsearch and currently using Cloudways. I see I can install Elasticsearch directly on my server, but there’s also the paid Elastic service.

Is it just self-hosted vs managed hosting, or does the Elastic service offer significant advantages (performance, scaling, maintenance geometry dash bloodbath ) that justify the cost?

    Thank you so much!

  7. Secure API Access for Database Credentials

For multi-tenant SaaS setups, developers need automated access to database credentials when new applications are created.

Instead of exposing raw MySQL credentials, Cloudways could:

    Provide API-generated temporary access tokens
    Support credential rotation via API
Enable event/webhook triggers on app creation

This would allow secure automation while avoiding permanent credential exposure and improving support for modern SaaS architectures.

  8. Lightning Stack Configurations for Subdirectory Installations

Hybrid stack is currently required for WordPress sites that are installed under a subdirectory folder (e.g. example.com/courses which loads /public_html/courses/index.php) — .htaccess gives rewrite rules that are currently needed to make this setup possible.

For websites with a strong SEO presence, a subdirectory installation in critical to maintain good standings with Google. The alternative subdomain approach (courses.example.com) would devastate SEO history.

This feature request is to add configurations to Lightning Stack so that subdirectory installations are possible.

  9. Http/2 Proxy Issue

    1. They should know their Apache config has an HTTP/2 proxy issue The fact that enabling HTTP/2 to Origin in Cloudflare breaks the Apache → Varnish routing is a platform bug on their side. Other Cloudways customers using Cloudflare with Varnish will have the exact same problem without knowing it. Worth flagging so they can fix it properly in their Apache VCL configuration rather than relying on HTTP/2 to Origin being disabled as a workaround.
    2. It's a workaround, not a proper fix Disabling HTTP/2 to Origin works, but HTTP/2 has real performance benefits — multiplexed connections, header compression, faster connection establishment.…

  11. Allow Custom Nginx Configurations for the Lightning Stack

As there are some Wordpress plugins, which require that Nginx rules be implemented in order for the plugin to function properly, it will be really useful to be able to add custom server configurations for Nginx when using the new Lightning stack.

In cases such as the above, currently, the only option is to use the hybrid Apache/Nginx stack and utilize .htaccess for custom server directives. This, however, prohibits the applications from using the new pure Nginx Lightning stack, which provides better server response times.

Please give due consideration to this important feature, as the stack matures and more functionality…

  12. Allow Custom Root Directory Name When Creating a New Application

When creating a new application, Cloudways automatically generates a random root directory name. Although it is possible to rename the application directory later via Application Settings, the original default directory still remains on the server and cannot be deleted.

As a result, two directories exist for a single application. This becomes a management issue when creating multiple applications or subdomains. For example, if I create 30 subdomains, there will be 60 directories on the server, which makes server management confusing and inefficient.

It would be very helpful if Cloudways could allow users to define a custom root directory name during…

  14. Default application redirect to url

We would like to have the option to provide a url (our agency domain name or a landing page on our agency's website) that will be used as a redirect "default application" that is show when visiting the ip address or a domain that is not (yet) configured for that server.

  16. Make it possible to set a PTR record

It is not possible to set a PTR record for Cloudways servers. Please give us a way to control reverse DNS, even if it just means submitting a ticket.

Cloudways servers are not used for sending emails, and Cloudways sites have to use transaction email services like Sendgrid, Elastic Mail, SMTP etc. Even then, some emails can still get flagged as spam due to the PTR record being returning "cloudwaysapps.com" rather than the domain name. This affects any mail sent by the customer's mail server, not just mail sent from their site.

    For example, let's say I have a site…

  17. give more time before you delete someone's server and applications

If you're barely late on a payment, they'll delete your server. Sometimes they will put an extension in place and restore it immediately (if not totally deleted). But sometimes, they just delete it. I even had a payment arrangement in place and they deleted my server and applications. They give maybe a few days to fix it. My website is a main way that I make money. I HAVE to have it up and running. It wasn't that bad of a price but I had to upgrade to get the malware service since it got malware.

    So, my suggestion is…

  18. [BUG] Restarting server should NOT reset timezone settings!

See ticket #515245. I already reported this last Nov 2023 and happened to me this April 2024. Still not fixed!

Server restart (either purposely or because of payment issues) should NOT reset the timezone. But rather SHOULD retain timezone settings.

    This is super hassle.

  19. Add dashboard customization for Apache

Just like Nginx, PHP, and MySQL, having Apache settings customizable within the dashboard would be incredibly useful. This would allow users to fine-tune Apache configurations directly, improving performance and memory efficiency without needing to access the terminal.

    Why this matters:

User-friendly optimization: Gives users more control over server tuning directly from the dashboard.
Enhanced server performance: Allows quick adjustments to optimize server behavior for better efficiency.

While I want access to mpm_prefork.conf setting for better mem management of a low traffic folio site, I'm sure some people want access to Custom errordocs, Filecache size, and timeout/keepalive settings.

  20. Make It Easier To Permanently Block IPs

In the Firewall list, current "offenders" are displayed with a TTL for when they will fall off the blacklist. For example, a reCAPTCHA exploit from a specific IP address might be auto-blacklisted for 6 hours, that sort of thing. It would be great to be able to click the 3-dot action menu and have an option to simply permanently blacklist the offending IP or country (drop the TTL) in one step. Currently, we have to manually copy the IP address. Remove the temporary blacklist. Click the Add Custom Rule button and add them back. Should be a one-click operation if…
