@Dany - you can use the Add Funds function to prepay your server fees if you wish to give Cloudways a big chunk of your money to use for free because they can't implement a simple solution to this issue.
They used to provide a discount for this kind of prepayment, but as far as I know, that was discontinued.

Seems like it should be pretty straightforward to let us designate our cash balance as the backup payment method to only be used if the card on file fails a payment. Instead of the other way around the way it now where cash balance is always considered primary payment method even if that's not what best for the customer.

I think it's time we get a real answer for when Cloudways will put in the effort to implement such an essential, basic feature that is offered by virtually every other hosting provider.
Their "workaround" to run separate servers for different PHP versions is ludicrous.
